AFT Combat vs General Standard

The Army Fitness Test uses one set of events and two passing totals. The General standard is 60 points on each event and 300 overall. The Combat standard is 60 points on each event and 350 overall. Select Male or Female in the AFT calculator for the General standard. Select Combat MOS for the Combat standard.

General standard

  • Non-combat specialties.
  • Male tables or female tables, by sex.
  • Age groups from 17–21 through 62+.
  • 60 points on every event and 300 total.

Combat standard

  • 24 combat MOSs and AOCs.
  • Sex-neutral. Everyone uses the male tables.
  • Still age-normed on those male tables.
  • 60 points on every event and 350 total.

The 24 combat specialties

11A, 11B, 11C, 11Z, 19A, 19C, 19D, 19K, 19Z, 18A, 180A, 18B, 18C, 18D, 18E, 18F, 18Z, 12A, 12B, 12D, 13A, 13F, 89D, 89E. They cover Infantry, Armor, Special Forces, combat engineers, field artillery, Army divers, and explosive ordnance disposal. 12D, 89D, and 89E were added in April 2026 under Army Directive 2026-07. The Combat standard took effect January 1, 2026 for the Active Component and June 1, 2026 for the Reserve and National Guard. Duty titles are on the combat MOS list.

Same raw scores, two totals

A 25-year-old entered at the male 60-point performance on every event scores 300 points. On the General standard that card is PASS because the required total is 300. On the Combat standard the per-event points stay the same, and the card is FAIL because the required total is 350. The raw performances are a 150 lb deadlift, 14 hand-release push-ups, a 2:31 sprint-drag-carry, a 1:25 plank, and a 19:45 2-mile run.

Female Soldiers on the General standard use the female tables for those raw conversions. A female Soldier in one of the combat specialties uses the male tables and the 350-point total. The score chart by age and sex shows both tables. Passing lines and the 100-point cap are on minimum and maximum AFT scores.
